Department of Dermatology and Venereology
【Growth Process】
More than 20 years ago, a dermatology and venereal disease clinic was opened in a small clinic in the old campus of Fuyang People's Hospital, with only one doctor and an ion therapy device.
From the opening of the dermatology clinic to the relocation of the entire hospital to the new campus in May 2015, the staff changed from old to new, from one doctor to two. The clinic expanded from one to four, and the number of patients increased from dozens to more than a hundred per day.
In May 2015, the Department of Dermatology moved to the new campus. The number of patients did not decrease as expected, but increased significantly.
The spacious and bright clinic ensures that one person can receive one consultation, and the clean and tidy treatment rooms provide the hardware conditions for carrying out a variety of new diagnostic and treatment projects and new technologies.
Since 2015, two new colleagues have joined the department. Four doctors in the dermatology department all have undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and three have master's degrees in medicine. There are both Western medicine and Chinese medicine practitioners, who can be said to be a blend of Chinese and Western medicine.
In 2016, with the help of experts from Shaw Hospital, projects such as skin biopsy and superficial skin tumor removal were carried out.
In April 2018, the Department of Dermatology and Venereology was established as an independent department, achieving breakthroughs in many aspects.
In 2018, the dermatology department was equipped with a fractional carbon dioxide laser machine, a 308 excimer light therapy device, and a photon therapy device, which can carry out multiple laser treatments such as vitiligo 308 excimer light irradiation, photon hair removal, spot removal, skin rejuvenation, etc. Liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine facial masks, plum blossom needles, acne needle cleansing, cold spray and other treatment projects are also being launched one after another.
The dermatology ward began to admit patients.
In 2019, fruit acid peels were launched to treat acne, facial pigmentation, and aging. Equipped with fungal fluorescence microscopy and dermoscopy, combined with skin biopsy, it effectively improves dermatology diagnosis technology. In 2021, helium-neon laser and microwave therapy equipment will be installed. In 2022, it will be equipped with an ultraviolet half-chamber treatment device, which can be used to irradiate large areas of vitiligo and other skin lesions. Biological agents and small molecule targeted drugs have also been used in clinical practice, effectively improving the symptoms and quality of life of patients with moderate to severe psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

In April 2018, the Department of Dermatology and Venereology was established as an independent department, with Dr. Cao Lei as the director of the Department of Dermatology.
【Current status of subject】
Since the opening of the Dermatology and Venereology Clinic, lack of equipment and other reasons have restricted the development of new technologies and projects. Since 2016, with the help of experts from Shaw Hospital, the support of hospital leaders, and the efforts of colleagues, the Department of Dermatology has significantly improved its professional skills:
New technology and new project 308 excimer light treatment for vitiligo was successfully concluded.
Fractional carbon dioxide laser is effective in treating superficial skin tumors and depressed scars after acne. Photon rejuvenation, freckle removal, hair removal, and redness removal all have good results.
Traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in dermatology with obvious effects.
Fungal fluoroscopy and dermoscopy combined with skin biopsy improve the accuracy of skin disease diagnosis. The development of the above diagnostic and treatment technologies has accumulated clinical data, broadened doctors' thinking, and laid a foundation for the development of the discipline.
Join the doctoral workstation to better connect dermatology with the frontiers of the discipline.
The Department of Dermatology currently has two deputy chief (medium) physicians, one attending physician, one resident physician, all with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and three with medical master's degrees.
