Since the 1960s, the General Surgery Department has carried out all surgeries (including a kidney transplant) under the leadership of its predecessors: He Yuren, Li Xuezheng, Gao Yiyi, Zhu Shuigan, Wen Liping and so on. Since 2009, under the leadership of four directors, Hu Zhenglong, Zhu Jianjun, Zhu Shunfu and Ouyang Yong, the department has gradually established specialties featuring thyroid cancer, breast cancer, inguinal hernia and vascular surgical treatment, and has carried out bilateral neck surgery for thyroid cancer. Qing, laparoscopic minimally invasive cosmetic surgery of the thyroid and breast, preperitoneal inguinal hernia repair, laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair (TEP, TAPP), and preperitoneal repair under local anesthesia. Breast-conserving radical surgery for breast cancer, laparoscopic mastectomy, breast fascia tissue flap transfer and plasty, minimally invasive breast rotation, etc. The diagnosis and treatment level of our department in thyroid, breast and inguinal hernias has reached the advanced level in the province. The technology of vascular surgery has improved by leaps and bounds, and endovascular treatments for pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs, aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm-like dilatation, carotid artery occlusion, and lower limb arteriosclerotic occlusion have been successively carried out; embolization of various arterial bleeding diseases Treatment; interventional treatment of liver malignant tumors and achieved good results, opening up new technical means for clinical treatment.

Our department has thyroid specialist outpatient clinics, breast specialist outpatient clinics, thyroid and breast hernia specialist outpatient clinics, general surgery outpatient clinics, and vascular surgery specialist outpatient clinics. The annual outpatient volume reaches 21,000, and the number of operations and outpatient visits ranks first in the surgical system. In August 2015, our department was the first to establish a district-level hernia and abdominal wall surgical treatment center in a district-level hospital in the province, making the region's hernia surgical diagnosis and treatment level leading in the province. The general department currently has 10 doctors, including 1 chief physician, 3 deputy chief physicians, and 2 attending physicians. The department currently has 3 graduate students or above. As an affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, our department is responsible for the clinical teaching tasks of this major. We have two part-time professors from Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine who carry out teaching and clinical internship and internship teaching. Our department is a required rotation department for the standardized training of surgical residents in Hangzhou, and has trained a large number of resident doctors who meet the requirements for our hospital and hospitals at all levels in Fuyang District.
